A Bahamas welcome

Starting this month the Bahamas' Sandyport Beach Resort is once again welcoming both international and local guests back for some island time. TripAdvisor's number one ranked Nassau Resort and Travellers' Choice award winner, Sandyport Beach Resort is social-distancing compliant by design, with its single and multi-bedroom suites and studios attractively spread along the canals and Lagoon Beach in Sandyport.

Guests can enjoy a choice of well-appointed hotel rooms and one, two and three-bedroom suites all individually air-conditioned at the adult and kid-friendly pool areas and the Lagoon Beach just a short stroll from the Resort's Ocean Beach. Unique features include kitchen facilities in the suites along with open-plan living and dining room and a Jacuzzi tub in the master bedroom.

The Blue Sail Restaurant and Bar located on the resort's ocean beach is a beautiful outdoor spot with breath-taking views of the ocean. Guests are also steps away from the picturesque Olde Town and nearby local food and beverage favourites such as Twisted Lime, Spritz, The News Café, and Bon Vivants Café and Cocktails - all within a short walk.

Other Bahamas attractions

In an effort to make a safe, much-needed Bahamian getaway more seamless, the Ministry of Tourism has introduced an interactive map that provides visitors with an island-by-island guide of the most up-to-dateinformation, including business hours of operation, beach access and more.

Hotel reopenings across the Bahamas include Atlantis Paradise Island, scheduled to reopen on 10 December, and Eleuthera's French Leave Resort, reopening on 15 December. Grand Hyatt Baha Mar and Exuma's Grand Isle Resort & Spa are both scheduled to reopen on 17 December. In the new year Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort will reopen on 28 January 2021 while Sandals Emerald Bay will reopen on 1 February.

Airport expansions

Exuma International Airport is getting a major upgrade. The project, which is scheduled to begin next month, will expand the terminal from 2,000 square feet to 60,000 square feet. The country is planning additional airport expansions for Long Island, which is expected to be completed in March 2022. The project will expand the airport's runway from 4,000 feet to 6,500 feet.
