A Visit To This Library Will Be A Grand Experience!

Welcome to "The Library" a unique Speakeasy experience reserved for our adult guests at The Grand at the Moon Palace. The vibe is pure glam and mystery, the music is blues and jazz and the libations are prohibition era themed with a modern twist. This "hidden gem"is not to be missed and makes a wonderful addition to the already stellar lineup of food & beverage options. We are always offering something new to delight our guests and this #ThePalaceDifference".

In November of last year I had the great pleasure and incredible opportunity to visit The Grand at Moon Palace Resort in Cancun. The first evening we were exploring the resort, and while walking down the expansive and spectacular main concourse, we happened upon a wall of bookshelves, filled with, well, books! Scattered among the books were curios of all shapes and sizes, and while inspecting these trinkets one of the cabinets opened up!

You can imagine the shock and surprise we felt! A young couple emerged from behind the wall, smiling and chatting as though it was a natural occurrence! As the "door" slowly closed behind them, we pounced at it to see what it was hiding. We entered into a small foyer, built entirely of bookshelves, a room barely large enough for the four of us to stand together. We congratulated each other for guessing the correct password, but later realized it could have been anything to be granted entry! As we passed through that portal, our senses were transported almost a century ago, to a world of gangsters and gun-molls, of boozers and bootleggers, where the music and drinks were fast and free-flowing! From the design of the bar, to the furnishings, to the artwork and memorabilia, our eyes were presented with a visual feast of the Prohibition Era.

Sharon Wilson, Business Development Manager (Western Canada) for Palace Resorts, describes it as being "inspired by the Prohibition Era in the Roaring '20s, The Library is a place to indulge in a fascinating period in history. <you can > choose from a variety of crafted cocktails that will transport you back to the bootlegging streets of New York: Al Capone, House Negroni, and the Gin Fizz, among many others. There's even a hidden entrance, adding to the allure--just make your way to the secret bookcase."

Throughout our stay at this magnificent resort, our evenings always began at The Library for pre-dinner drinks, and to discuss which of the more than 20 dining options would satisfy our palates. As our evenings neared their end, we never failed to find ourselves strolling back towards the bookcases, for another encounter with Bugsy, Lucky, Baby Face, et al...
