AllWays Traveller's Journal : Virtual travel issue no 2
Travelling again will be so well worth the effort
Welcome to the second AllWays Traveller's Journal - virtual travel issue.
As with the first issue, which is also available, it highlights ways you can get an 'online feel' of the wonderful places waiting for you when we get through the pandemic.
The first shoots of recovery from the Coronavirus are beginning to appear as the world takes its first tentative steps back to normality.
And though the tourism industries worldwide realise that they may not be in the first wave of renewed social and economic activity, they will be ready just as soon as the time comes.
All the research shows that we have lost none of the desire or the determination to travel, when it is safe and possible to do so.
And though we might find conditions imposed us when travelling once again (as in the aftermath of 9/11) it will be so worth the effort.
Whether it's a short visit to a local tourist attraction or that first, post-virus, long-haul trip
The International Travel Writers Alliance, which produces AllWays Traveller, believes its journalists can and should be Making a difference in today's world.
And that is equally relevant for all of us as we venture back into the world once again.
Travelling allows us to :
- broaden our horizons
- appreciate diversity, cultural difference and national identity
- champion indigenous populations and local communities
- embrace environmental and sustainability initiatives
- support those striving to protect natural habitats and the animals that live there
- champion conservation and heritage projects, and
- foster a mutual and universal understanding among all people.
