Amarla Casco Viejo, Panama City

AO-Panama-1

Amarla Casco Viejo is a new adults-only, eight-room, boutique hotel in the old quarter of UNESCO-designated Casco Viejo.

Casco Antiguo, also known as Casco Viejo or San Felipe, is the historic district of Panama City.

It was first built in 1673, replacing the near-total destruction by pirates of the original Panamá city, Panamá Viejo in 1671.

The hotel embraces local artistry individually styled rooms and public spaces, with hand-decorated coffee cups painted by a Panamanian tribe, and hand-spun textiles.

There is also brassware from Morocco, Indonesian silk in the British-made kimonos and Portuguese linens.

The Rooftop offers 360-degree views of the city's modern skyline and Casco Viejo's UNESCO World Heritage vista of cathedrals, churches and 18th-century architecture.

Panama is a country on the isthmus linking Central and South America.

The Panama Canal cuts through it linking the Atlantic and Pacific oceans to create an essential shipping route.
