Arctic travel with Off the Map

Arctic travel experts at Off the Map Travel has a new range of properties and experiences - which are 'designed to make any trip above the Arctic Circle full of fun, adventure and luxury'.



This can include :

VOLDA floating lodge, Tromso, Norway

Moored off the coast of Tromso Island, guests can now stay on a Norwegian fjord

Built on a ferry from the 1960s, the VOLDA floating lodge was converted into luxury accommodation using Scandinavian design to create a special place for guests to relax and hunt for the Northern Lights.

The lodge sleeps up to 14 guests in 7 bedrooms and comes with an open plan living room and kitchen area with a 4m long dining table, two open lounging areas and one private lounge in the officer's cabin.

Apukka Resort, Rovaniemi, Finland

First launched in December 2017, the new Apukka Resort has created an opportunity to stay in individually made Ice cabins located in thewilderness surrounding Rovaniemi, Finland.

Each cabin is made using bricks that are 100% pure ice all topped off with a solid wooden roof.

The temperature in the Ice Cabin stays between 0 and -5 ºC and comes with plenty of specialist bedding and Reindeer skins to keep guests warm.

In addition, Aurora Wagons enable guests to stay the night in a bespoke caravan style accommodation with windows looking up to the night sky.

The new Igloo Lodge, Ilulissat, Greenland

Off the Map Travel also provides the chance for guests to stay in a traditional hand-built igloo village, called the Igloo Lodge.

This is made up of five spacious igloos, each with room for two people, and complete with reindeer skins, warm winter sleeping bags and a petroleum lamp on a night table.

This adventure strips back the luxury and gets guests back to nature, spending a night in the Arctic tundra like the Innuits have done years before.

On site is a wooden cabin containing bathroom facilities and communal area where meals are served.

Although outside temperatures can drop well below freezing, the igloos remain around 0ºC – making sleeping in the specialist outdoor equipment more than comfortable.

Skaret Lodge, Tromso, Norway

Skaret Lodge has created a new luxury experience on Ringvassøya, Norway's 6th biggest island.

The new lodge suits those looking to experience the Northern Lights from the local fjords to experiencing the aurora dancing over the summit of the local mountains.

A master lodge includes five bedrooms, and with a further three adjacent cabins, can sleep up to 35 people.

The Lyngen Experience, Tromso, Norway

Opened in October 2018, the new Lyngen Experience lodge brings more luxury to the Tromso region of Norway.

With one side of the new lodge fully glazed, giving a 180º view looking north onto the fjord and mountains beyond, it is well for the Northern Lights.

Guests can also join the aurora photographer, Kjetil Skogli for an aurora photography experience.

Kjetil is also one of the pioneers in Northern Lights tours.

Deplar Farm, Troll Peninsula, Iceland

Off the Map Travel has launched Deplar Farm in a region of Northern Icelandknown for its Northern Lights.

Claiming a stay that is 'as close to a complete luxury adventure as you can possibly get' guests also have access to a range of tours and experiences.

These include wintersurfing, fat biking, whale watching, hot spring tours and a Segull Brewery tour to the Kaldi beer spa.

The necessary Arctic gear, chef prepared breakfast, lunch, après and dinner by an in house executive chef, organic fresh food mini bar, house alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and transfers are also all included.

An Arctic Masterclass, Lulea, Sweden

A new and exclusive itinerary from Off the Map Travel has been designed to teach guest the core winter skills required to survive in the Arctic.

This includes Arctic clothing, building and cooking over an open fire, ice fishing, how to embark on a snowshoe trek, dogsled and snowmobile safari while exploring the local relationship with the Northern Lights.

24 hours of Northern lights, Svalbard, Norway

Off the Map Travel have launched their first opportunity to hunt for the Aurora 24 hours of the day in Svalbard, Norway.

It is available from November to late January, when the winter sun is more than 6º below the horizon giving visitors dark skies throughout the day, doubling the chance of experiencing the Aurora.

Guests stay in the new Funken Lodge.
