Body Worlds arrives in London

Dr Gunther von Hagens' Body Worlds has sparked curiosity, controversy and acclaim around the world and attracted over 47 million visitors globally.

BODY WORLDS is the only exhibition of bodies where all the anatomical specimens in the exhibition are real.

There are currently over 17,000 Body Worlds donors, worldwide, who have agreed to donate their bodies for public display and educational purposes.

Body Worlds has been created by anatomists Dr Gunther von Hagens and Dr Angelina Whalley.

Before display, all specimens will have been subject to Plastination, a preservation technique invented by Dr Hagens.

The Body Worlds series of anatomical exhibitions has toured countries worldwide, with an emphasis on the educational and artistic aspects of the complex dissections.

To produce specimens for Body Worlds, von Hagens employs over 300 people at labs in China, Germany and Kyrgyzstan.

Body Worlds was first presented in Tokyo in 1995 and exhibitions have since been hosted by more than 50 museums and venues in North America, Europe and Asia.
