The Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort in Aruba is the first hotel to win the Global United Nations 2020 Climate Action Award for Climate Neutral Now.
Past recipients include global giants and household names such as Apple and Infosys and projects backed by major banks.
With the Bucuti & Tara award, the UN is recognising the significant affect the hospitality sector, can have in combating climate change.
The UN's Momentum for Change programme is a highlight of the annual United Nations Climate Change Conference.
The independently owned Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort, which is located on the largest swathe of Eagle Beach, was opened by Austrian-born Ewald Biemans in 1987.
In August 2018, it became the Caribbean's first carbon-neutral hotel and remains the only one.
