Check out the Southern Highlands of New South Wales

Cover The Bowral Long Lunch.
It's now easier than ever to book a stay in the NSW Southern Highlands, just 100 kilometres from Sydney but a world away from big-city noise and congestion.

Destination Southern Highlands and Southern Highlands Food & Wine Association have launched a new mobile-responsive visitor website aimed at attracting both domestic and international visitors to the Highlands.

Check and book online

The website has been created around the many experiences available throughout the Southern Highlands, profiling the region's major attributes: food and wine, the arts, gardens, events, cricket, shopping, heritage, nature and of course accommodation.

Key features of the website to attract international visitors include the introduction of multi-lingual translation, virtual reality application, user-friendly navigation, quality content, online chat, search engine optimisation, bookable products and a simple striking design.

Manager Destination Southern Highlands, Steve Rosa, said the website sets a new benchmark for online information. "It demonstrates how a close collaborative working relationship with our leading tourism sector members can reduce duplication and create centralisation of information to showcase our region to potential visitors," he said.

Not to be missed

With charming towns and villages, rolling green hills and pastures, immaculate gardens, wineries, bookshops and a thriving arts community, the Southern Highlands should be included on the itinerary of anyone visiting Sydney or Canberra – by road just 90 minutes and two hours away respectively.

The principal town and the most central is Bowral, famous for its annual Tulip Time festival in September/October and the International Cricket Hall of Fame and Don Bradman Museum. The village of Bundanoon holds an annual Scottish festival, Brigadoon, in April.
