Cortina d'Ampezzo, often referred to as Cortina, is located in the middle of the Italian Alps two hours North of Venice.

Situated in the Ampezzo Valley, the small town is surrounded in all directions by some of the most scenic peaks of the Dolomite mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

There has been a settlement here for over 1000 years and this has endowed Cortina with log-standing traditions and its own local language.

Cortina was among the first Alpine destinations to host tourists, firstly explorers and scientists, then European royals and aristocrats.

The wide Ampezzo Valley and the Dolomites surrounding it make Cortina a spot for sports enthusiasts and sporting events.

It staged the 1956 Winter Olympics and the 2021 World Ski Championships and will host the Winter Olympics again in 2026, this time with Milan.

In the winter, Cortina offers its ski slopes, the Olympic ice stadium, along with snowshoeing and cross-country skiing pistes in the Natural Park.

The many mountain huts provide hearty, traditional food, while fine dining restaurants add that extra creativity and innovation with agriturismi and Alpine farms delivering local products and natural food.

Summer in Cortina

In the summer, Cortina offers hundreds of kilometres of hiking trails, over thirty via ferratas, a golf course and the MTB, road biking and climbing routes.
