Dog sledding in Norway

​ Off the Map Travel's is introducing a new experience in Norway run by a husband and wife team who have combined their passion for dogsledding and gourmet food to offer new immersive luxury Arctic experience.

The trip starts at the home of Johnny Trasti, Trine Lyrek and their Alaskan huskies, an Eco Lodge nestled in the forest 10 km from the Northern Norwegian town of Alta.

During the day, guests learn to drive (or mush) their own dogsled team before returning to the lodge to enjoy a dining experience which blends traditional and modern cuisine with local ingredients

Guests get the chance to harness their own sled team, which is a hands-on and immersive dogsled activity allowing the development ofa unique bond with the dogs.

With one musher and one passenger per sled, guests are able to take regular breaks along the route for the paring to swap.

The local trails wind through forests, across the open landscape and alongside or on frozen sections of the Alta River with the Arctic scenery as a backdrop.

The itinerary includes a guided Northern Lights experience; a snowmobile safari with a night in the igloo hotel; the dogsledding and fine dining experience with Johnny and Trine with a final night in Alta.
