East Winds, Saint Lucia
Located on a beach with a protected coral reef for snorkelling, East Winds comprises 30 cottages in 12 acres of tropical gardens.
With only four of these acres developed, it attracts an abundance of nature, with over 100 species of plant, rare birds and lizards.
Activities range from boat trips to the Pitons and rainforest tours to local cookery classes and 'bean to bar' chocolate making.
The restaurant has a farm-to-table concept where most of their ingredients are grown in their market garden on property.
In 2017 East Winds set up the East Winds Family Foundation, a project to support the children of staff members in receiving proper education by remaining in school.
East Winds invites guests to donate US$1 per room for each night spent at the resort towards the East Winds Family Foundation.
Since the commencement of the Foundation, the resort has been able to provide all required schoolbooks to 44 children ranging from ages 6-17 years old.
From 2018, in addition to schoolbooks, school bags and stationery have been provided to 46 children.
