Grand Universe Lucca and La Residenza, Lucca

Known as the city of a hundred and one churches, Lucca is a city on the Serchio river in Italy's Tuscany region known for the well-preserved Renaissance city walls and cobblestone streets.

Broad, tree-lined pathways along the tops of the 16th and 17th Century ramparts are popular for strolling and cycling.

Overlooking two of Lucca's piazzas, the Grand Universe Lucca was a Palazzo during the Renaissance period and is now a five-star hotel with 55-guestrooms and nine suites, and part of Marriot's Autograph Collection.

With a history dating back to 1572, the three-story Grand Universe La Residenza is a collection of 10 suites and residences that pay homage to the heritage of Lucca and the Mansi family.

The Mansi family were one of the most successful silk merchants of the 16th Century, and they lived in the property for generations.

Casa di Puccini in Lucca is where the opera composer, and 2024 marks the centenary of his death.

Commemorative events will be taking place across the region with concerts, operas and parties, those looking for a Tuscan retreat can look no further than the luxury properties.
