Hiking and cycling in Czechia

AO-Czechia-3

Czechia (previously the Czech Republic) is a landlocked country in Central Europe that was historically known as Bohemia.

It has borders with Austria, Poland and Slovakia.

CzechTourism is highlighting the hiking and cycling trails, during spring or summer, that take users past mountain peaks, clear lakes and green countryside.

For an active, outdoor break in Czechia :

Bohemian Switzerland

A European Destination of Excellence (EDEN), the Bohemian Switzerland National Park is a national park linked to the Saxon Switzerland National Park in Germany, and offers rock formations, sweeping countryside and its gorges.

Starting from the town of Hrensko, the 25km circular route to the Edmund Gorge and Wild Gorge, takes in the Pravčická Gate.

The Krkonoše Mountains

The Krkonoše Mountains has Mount Snezka, Czechia's highest mountain, and there is the chance to hike to Snezka's peak with its underground tunnels and the mountain's water supply system.

For those who prefer, the chairlift provides an easier route without the climb.

Moravia

The historical region of Moravia offers rolling hills dominated by vineyards with its capital Brno and the northern city of Olomouc.

For those looking to cycle, the Moravian Cycle Path covers 300km from the Czech-Polish state border and ending in South Moravia.

The marked cycle path follows the rail tracks, with intercity connections able to transport bicycles, and passes through historic towns, cites, landmarks, castles and gardens.

There's even the chance to stop off at impressive vineyards and wine cellars along the way.
