Miyako Island is the largest of the Miyako Islands group, a jewel at the western edge of the North Pacific. It lies approximately 300 kilometres southwest of Okinawa's capital, Naha, about halfway between Okinawa and Taiwan.
Miyako Island has gained enormous popularity as a travel destination for its beautiful beaches, rich marine life, and pleasant climate. Because of the mild weather, the island's coral reefs and mangrove forests are accessible to tourists all year long. The resort's proximity to Miyako Sunset Beach and the stunning Irabu Bridge provides unparalleled views of what is known as the Miyako Blue Sea.
The Irabu Bridge is a prominent feature of the area. It connects Miyako Island to Irabu Island and it is the longest non-toll bridge in Japan at 3.54 kilometres. Completed in January 2015, its "double hump" design and curved shape give the bridge a uniquely graceful appearance, making it seem almost like a natural feature in the landscape.
The Miyako Blue Sea and its environs have influenced the decor of each of the 329 well-appointed guest rooms. The Executive Lounge serves as an exclusive hangout for guests staying in the hotel's 56 Executive Rooms and 11 Suite Rooms, where they can relax with complimentary drinks and light fare in the evenings. Artwork by world-famous artists that captures the spirit of Miyako Island decorates the resort, immersing visitors in the area's cultural heritage and natural splendour.
Situated in the Twuriba area, Hilton Okinawa Miyako Island Resort enjoys an advantageous location just a 15-minute drive from Miyako Airport, which is a short direct flight from Tokyo Haneda or Osaka Kansai airports, and a 25-minute drive from Shimojishima Airport.
The hotel also features four restaurants and bars, suitable for various occasions and dining preferences. Guests can dine throughout the day at the vibrant Azure which serves international fare made with locally sourced ingredients, or savour authentic Italian cuisine at Isoletta – the hotel's signature restaurant, which features a gas-fired pizza oven and cosy trattoria setting.
There is also the lobby lounge Saryo, and Yunai Rooftop Bar, whose name means 'night' in Miyako dialect.
The resort offers an extensive array of amenities and facilities including three outdoor pools – for families, children and adults respectively – as well as two indoor pools and a gym. Guests can also indulge at the spa while children can be fully entertained with indoor and outdoor activities at the Kids' Club, which opens from 10am to 6pm daily.
With a ballroom spanning over 200 square metres, multiple meeting rooms, and a rooftop chapel that can accommodate various gatherings and celebrations, the hotel aims to be an all-encompassing destination for tourists, business travellers and locals alike. Room rates start at about US$430 per night.
