Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square, Pennsylvania

Longwood Gardens will open Longwood Reimagined: A New Garden Experience on 22 November 2024.

The project is heralded as 'the most ambitious revitalisation of America's greatest centre for horticultural display'.

Longwood Gardens is a botanical garden comprising over 1,077 acres of gardens, woodlands, and meadows in the Brandywine Creek Valley at Kennett Square.

Longwood Reimagined will transform 17 acres to enhance the visitor experience and to expand its exhibitions and events.

It will include a 32,000-square-foot-conservatory designed by WEISS/MANFREDI as 'a living and breathing glass house, with walls and roofs that open and close in response to the weather'.

The opening of Longwood Reimagined will be celebrated with two weeks of festivities.

Longwood's Cascade Garden, by the Brazilian landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx, is being relocated to a 3,800-square-foot glass house of its own.

A new outdoor Bonsai Courtyard will exhibit one of the most outstanding collections of bonsai in the country.

Pennsylvania itself takes in the Mid-Atlantic, Appalachian and Great Lakes regions.
