Machu Picchu: Journey to the Lost City is designed for a multi-user experience, letting participants freely move through the reconstructed site with the help of an AI guide named TERI.
The experience, which is available in cities worldwide has now opened in London, following a recent UK opening in Manchester.
This journey touches all bases
Those taking part use a headset that allows entry into a virtual Machu Picchu that has been created using advanced mapping technology, drone imagery and consultation with Inca historians.
The 'free to roam' virtual reality expedition, allows users can walk and look around a stunningly detailed digital recreation of Machu Picchu, with each user enjoying an individual experience.
As such, Machu Picchu: Journey to the Lost City is an experience that will inform and enthral all ages.
For us adults, it is a chance to learn about the life, times and construction of Machu Picchu, with the virtual reality element enabling us to look every which way.
For younger visitors it offers an adventure with a floating robot named TERI as guide and Larry, a friendly lama always hanging around.
After setting up and introductions, the virtual reality segment offers a memorable 40–45 minutes in a different world.

Machu Picchu
Machu Picchu, is an Inca citadel high in the Andes Mountains of Peru, and one of the world's most stunning archaeological sites.
Often referred to as the Lost City of the Incas, it is one of the most iconic symbols of the Inca civilization.
Built around 1450, what is now known as Machu Picchu is believed to have served as an estate for the Inca emperor Pachacuti, but was abandoned roughly a century later.
This was probably due to the Spanish conquest and disease following European contact.
Over the centuries, the site was claimed back by the surrounding jungle, and few outside the immediate area knew of its existence.
Until 1902 when Peruvian explorer Agustín Lizárraga led an expedition to the area now known as Machu Picchu and discovered the 'lost city'.
He was followed a decade later by American historian and explorer Hiram Bingham, who was instrumental in alerting the world to the 'lost city'.
It is an indication of its importance that Machu Picchu is a cultural and a natural UNESCO World Heritage Site
