Madeira, an autonomous region of Portugal, is an archipelago comprising islands off the northwest coast of Africa.

The main island of Madeira itself is volcanic, green and rugged, with high cliffs, pebbly beaches and settlements on deltas of the Fajã River.

Its capital is Funchal.

Madeira has opened to international visitors with a range of safety measures for visitors that cover arrivals at the airport, car rentals and transfers, arrival at accommodation while on the island.

Madeira has been working with SGS, the world leader in certification, to ensure good practices across the destination to minimise risks in the wake of Covid-19.

The Maderia – Safer to discover certification is available to all companies in the tourism sector, and will be identified it logo.
