Paragliding is the recreational and competitive adventure sport of flying lightweight, free-flying, foot-launched glider aircraft with no rigid primary structure.

The pilot sits in a harness or lies supine in a cocoon-like 'pod' suspended below a fabric wing.

The paraglider is steered either by shifting weight or by pulling the steering lines.

This allows the pilot to take advantage of thermal currents and stay in the air for up to an hour or more while enjoying the view.
