Seattle is a seaport city on the west coast of the USA and is the largest city in the state of Washington and the Pacific Northwest region of North America.

The city is situated on an isthmus between Puget Sound (an inlet of the Pacific Ocean) and Lake Washington, about 100 miles (160 km) south of the Canada–United States border.



With its Space Needle and The Mark Tower, Seattle's skyline is surrounded by mountains, snow-capped volcanoes, forests and ocean and islands.

Whale watching is available almost all year around, with boating or kayaking opportunities.

Over 200 cruises head out of the city each year to Alaska with seven major cruise lines.

In 2017 the Port of Seattle had its most successful year ever with over one million people visiting Seattle to cruise to Alaska.

Washington State has over 900 wineries as well as three national parks in Mt. Rainier, Olympic and North Cascades.
