Sensational Stays: Hoffman Haus

Fredericksburg, Texas may not be on the radar of many travelers, but it is one of the most visited towns in the Lone Star State. Described as "bespoke event venue and lodging," Hoffman Haus is a compound of traditional Sunday houses, log cabins, and modern buildings converted into Bed & Breakfast style lodging. The Hoffman Haus is one of several former private residences transformed to support an influx of visitors coming to the area in search of wine, antiques, and shopping.

The Evening Star room is one half of an 1840s log cabin facing Barons Creek as it meanders through the town. Styled as a romantic and rustic retreat for couples the room features a king-sized bed, a spa tub, and the large layout provides plenty of comfortable seating to cozy up by the limestone fireplace. Outside, a covered porch is a perfect private sitting area to enjoy morning coffee or a comfortable Texas evening. Rooms are fitted with luxury linens, deluxe soaps and shampoos, and local coffee. The Hoffman Haus complex is comprised of 9 two-person rooms, 8 suites, and 6 houses.

The event venue is a restored circa-1840s tobacco barn with a spacious floor plan, high ceilings, and custom woodwork. Often used for weddings, the space has a large bar, a waiting area with luxurious seating, and access to an outdoor garden.

Just down the garden path is an on-site day spa serving as a tranquil oasis after some hard days of walking around the historic town or exploring central Texas' outdoors. The Hoffman Haus is equipped with a Blink Charging Station for electric vehicles.

For a small town, population 11,000, Fredericksburg has a surprisingly large number of things to see and do. Whether it is exploring the beauty of the Texas Hill Country (and the surrounding wineries) or finding the perfect gift in a Main Street boutique (or wine tasting room) there is plenty to keep visitors busy for days. Some places in Fredericksburg are not to miss: Start off at the Visit Fredericksburg Welcome Center where there is plenty of free parking and tons of info; the Pioneer Museum is great for all ages; the National Museum of the Pacific War tells the human stories of those who served and are connected to WWII; get dinner at Cabernet Grill where owner/executive chef Ross Burtwell creates impressive dishes to pair with an award-winning wine list; enchant your taste buds at Das Peach Haus; Korea meets Texas at an authentic fusion of tastes at Eaker Barbecue; indulge in some ice cream; get up close and personal with giraffes and rhinos at Longneck Manor.
