Sometimes a perfect property is on a perfect property. Visitors to downtown Cleveland cannot be much more centrally located by choosing a sensational stay at the Hotel Indigo Cleveland Downtown. This building is a walkable homebase to casinos, museums, and sporting events. The Indigo is in the heart of The Land, and while adventure awaits outside amenities tempt guests to stay in comfort.
Nestled in the heartbeat of downtown Cleveland, Hotel Indigo stands as a testament to both the city's enduring spirit and its constant reinvention. What began in the late 1990s as the Radisson Hotel Cleveland-Gateway—an amiable refuge for visiting fans, business travelers, and wandering souls alike—found new life in 2019 when visionary owners undertook a thoughtful transformation, infusing the property with boutique charm and neighborhood-savvy design. The hotel's reinvention created a place where sleek contemporary comfort meets subtle hints of local culture. It is more than a stopover; it's a gateway to Cleveland itself—a home base from which to explore the city's rich arts, theater, and sports scenes, all while savoring moments of repose that feel as personal as they are stylish.
My son and I checked in for one night to catch a Guardians baseball game, because we love sports tourism. The stadium is only a couple blocks away. And I've always been a fan of Cleveland, not just its sports but a city I tell friends is one of the most affordable destinations in the USA. Situated in Cleveland's Historic Gateway District, visitors can find an eclectic array of restaurants, bars, and nightlife humming with live music and local flavor.
We stayed in Room 619, an expansive, 624 sq. ft. suite with a King bed and separate bedroom area. The living room contains a sofa bed, couch seating area, and dining room table. The "kitchen area" is equipped with a washing sink, and coffee and tea selection. The bathroom is spacious and luxurious and outfitted with Zenology products.
This room, and the rest of the hotel, is perfect for long stays. The pet-friendly Hotel Indigo has a state-of-the-art fitness center with elliptical machines, free weights, and treadmills. Valet parking is available, and the attendants are some of the nicest folks I've met at any hotel stay. There is a business center I did not have time to use, as well as dry cleaning and laundry valet. The Headliner Bar and Eatery offers breakfast and dinner; the cocktail and beer list is impressive, especially for a hotel bar!
Up by Lake Erie, which is walkable but easily accessed by ride share, visitors can enjoy the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Great Lakes Science Center, and the future renovation of the city's football stadium. Cleveland's neighborhoods differ in style and substance, so getting out and about is a prime suggestion—I recommend visiting hip Ohio City and cultural University Circle.
