Singapore is a city-state and island country in Southeast Asia, which is located off the southern tip of the Malay peninsula.

Green building has been mandatory in Singapore since 2008 and a mandatory code for residential and non-residential buildings applies to all new building works.
The code has seen the increase of green roofs, cascading vertical gardens and verdant walls all over Singapore in recent years.
Two of the best green examples are :
- Gardens by the Bay - a stunning park consisting of three waterfront gardens, and
- the UNESCO-listed Singapore Botanic Gardens – a green space featuring the National Orchid Garden, a swan lake and tropical trees.
