WWT Slimbridge is a 100-acre wetland wildlife reserve near Slimbridge in Gloucestershire, England on the eastern side of the estuary of the River Severn.

The reserve, set up by the artist and naturalist Sir Peter Scott, opened in November 1946.

The Slimbridge 2020 project plans to transform Slimbridge Wetlands Centre with a series of new and immersive experiences.

The £6-million project is already underway with some of its new wildlife experiences delivered during 2019 - including an 'Arctic Adventure' (complete with tundra research huts).

In the pipeline is :

  • a 380-seater, open-air Living Wetlands Theatre (due to open at Easter 2020)
  • a Severn Estuary Walkway (summer 2020), and
  • Mission Impossible – the story of how the world's rarest goose was brought back from the brink of extinction (winter 2020).
