The Tatra and Liptov Mountains provide an alternative to the more established European ski resorts.

Major ski resorts include :
- Tatranska Lomnica (High Tatras)
- Strbske Pleso Ski Resort (High Tatras)
- Jasna Ski Resort (Low Tatras), and
- Malino Brdo (Velka Fatra National Park).
The Jasna Ski Resort will host an International Ski Federation slalom and giant slalom event of the World Cup series on 6 and 7 March 2021.
