The gates of Yosemite, California
Yosemite National Park, which spans nearly 1,200 square miles across the western Sierra Nevada.

Arch Rock Entrance
Yosemite's Arch Rock Entrance is named after this rock creating a welcoming portal just after visitors drive through the entrance gate on Highway 140.
Sitting at an elevation of 2,100 ft, the Arch Rock Entrance is reached via All-Season Highway 140 as it rises through the dramatic walls of the Merced River Canyon.
As well as stunning views found by the Arch Rock Entrance, it is also the closest to Yosemite Valley and Bridalveil Fall along with the vertical monolith of El Capitan, Mirror Lake and the of Half Dome.

Big Oak Flat Entrance
Located at 4,800 ft along the northwest boundary of Yosemite National Park, the Big Oak Flat Entrance welcomes visitors via Highway 120/Big Oak Flat Road.
The road climbs through pine forests on winding roads to reach Crane Flat, before descending into Yosemite Valley.
This 19-mile drive from the Big Oak Flat Entrance to Yosemite Valley offers visitors to take in the Merced Grove of Giant Sequoias and nearby Tuolumne Grove of ancient trees.

Hetch Hetchy Entrance
Yosemite's Hetch Hetchy Entrance leads to Hetch Hetchy Reservoir along an out and back road in a somewhat remote corner of Northern Yosemite.
Fed by the Tuolumne River, Hetch Hetchy Reservoir is a bowl of Sierra snowmelt against weather-washed granite cliffs.Wapama Fall is a five-mile out and back hike with little elevation.

Tioga Pass Entrance
This is Yosemite's smallest and highest elevation entrance, on the eastern side of the park.
With its jagged starkness and soaring peaks this entrance differs from the more gradual, forested slopes of the western Sierra.
Perched at an elevation of 10,000 ft, the Park's eastern boundary serves as a portal to Yosemite's High Country.
Tenaya Lake offers the opportunity for a bracing swim, kayak or peaceful walk around its shores.

South Entrance
Yosemite's south gate on Highway 41 is the closest entrance to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias.
Located near Fish Camp, it is situated on the pine-studded Sierra slopes at an elevation of 5,000 ft.
The Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad vintage train is located five miles from the South Entrance along Highway 41 offering tours including the Moonlight Special and the Yosemite Jazz Train.
