The National Museum of African American Music, Nashville

Nashville the capital Tennessee is known for its links to country music.

Country music venues include the Grand Ole Opry House, the Country Music Hall of Fame and a downtown throbbing with live music venues.

And now the National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM) is to 'soft open' in winter 2020 on Broadway in Downtown Nashville, followed by the official opening of the new in 2021.

The 200,000 square foot complex will comprise the new museum along with shops, bars and restaurants.

NMAAM will be the only US museum dedicated to promoting African American music across over 50 different music genres.

It will explore how African American artists changed the course of musical history and preserve their legacy.
