The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew

The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew will stage a range of festivals and exhibitions at Kew Gardens,London and Wakehurst, Kew's wild botanic garden in Sussex.

The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew is London's largest UNESCO World Heritage site.

Its collection of living plants, trees and shrubs, either 'growing out' or in the glasshouses and nurseries, comprise the largest and most diverse collection in the world.

Kew is dedicated to harnessing the power of plants and fungi to end the extinction crisis and secure a future for all life on Earth.



During 2023

Kew's annual Orchid festival

Returning to the Princess of Wales Conservatory (5 February to 6 March 2023) is Kew's annual Orchid festival, this year inspired by the sights and sounds of Cameroon.

With floral displays designed and created by Kew's horticulturists, the festival has a photographic exhibition and After Hours events.

The International Garden Photographer of the Year

The International Garden Photographer of the Year exhibition (5 February to 6 March 2023) returns to Kew Gardens, featuring a selection of winning photographs across categories including Beautiful Gardens, The Beauty of Plants, Wildlife in the Garden and The World of Fungi.

Superworm

Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler's incredible invertebrate Superworm is recreated at Kew Gardens and Wakehurst (1 April to 17 April 2023 at Kew Gardens and 30 March to 23 April at Wakehurst).

These interactive trails will allow young visitors to encounter this super-long and super-strong hero and his insect companions whilst discovering more about the vital role which these familiar species play in our ecosystem.

Spring at Kew

Spring horticultural highlights at Kew Gardens include magnolias alongside carpets of crocuses and blossom along Cherry Walk.

Visitors can also take in displays of tulips around the Temperate House, with 10,000 colourful bulbs in flower from April to May.

Anila Quayyum Agha and Sue Wickison

Artists Anila Quayyum Agha and Sue Wickison present new work at the Shirley Sherwood Gallery of Botanical Art (1 April to 17 September 2023).

The exhibition showcases contemporary sculptural work alongside intricate botanical paintings and work from the Shirley Sherwood Collection.

Summer Cycle

Kew's Summer Cycle returns for 2023, allowing visitors to explore the gardens on two wheels.

Each evening session offers the opportunity to experience the UNESCO World Heritage site from an entirely new perspective.

Kew the Music

Kew the Music 4 to 9 July 2023)has headline acts in a week of outdoor concerts offer a unique opportunity to experience Kew's UNESCO World Heritage Site as twilight falls.

LGBTQ+ communities

In autumn Kew Gardens will explore the long-lasting connection between plants and LGBTQ+ communities with a new festival in the Temperate House (30 September to 29 October 2023).

This will see a programme of art installations, performances, film screenings and events.

Christmas at Kew

Christmas at Kew has illuminations in the gardens after dark, featuring a range of new installations and the return of much-loved favourites including the Christmas Cathedral and lightshows on Kew's iconic buildings.
