The Sounds of Amsterdam

AO-Amsterdam-lead

Amsterdam & Partners have produced the Sounds of Amsterdam, a series of audio tours that offer 'typically Amsterdam street noise, melodies, voices, loudness and our silence'.

The audio tours take in :

  • the Plantage quarters, home to Artis Zoo and the city's botanical gardens
  • the ferry across the River IJ and Amsterdam North, and
  • the swinging sound of Amsterdam ZuidOost, a 'cultural melting pot'.

  • Listeners should also get a feel for local hotspots and hidden gems including :

    Fietstunnel Rijksmuseum

In addition to its historic Canal Ring, Amsterdam's City Centre district is home to the Museum Quarter and a number of museums along with shopping areas and theatres.

    The Plantage

The Plantage, which is located to the east of Amsterdam's city centre, is an elegant neighbourhood that is green and spacious.

The Artis Zoo and the botanical gardens are found here along with the leafy boulevards and elegant squares.

    Amsterdam Noord

Directly across the water (known as 'the IJ') behind Central Station, Amsterdam Noord offers green expanses and little villages along with cutting-edge architecture, lowing street-art and stylish waterside hangouts.

    Zuidoost

The active, multicultural Zuidoost is home Amsterdam's largest cinema, two of its biggest festivals along with concerts and football.

With around 100,000 residents from more than 150 ethnic backgrounds, this neighbourhood is truly a vibrant cultural melting pot.

    Oud-West

Oud-West is a neighbourhood of 'trendy design stores, cool cafe bars and some of the best restaurants in the city'.
