Tobago’s Main Ridge Forest Reserve

Tobago is the smaller of the two Caribbean islands comprising the nation of Trinidad and Tobago.

It is known for its wide, sandy beaches and biodiverse tropical rainforest rich in indigenous flora and fauna.



The Main Ridge Forest Reserve was declared a protected rainforest by the English Crown in 1776 and is is the oldest protected piece of land and forest reserve in the western hemisphere.

It is a popular birdwatching site being home to hummingbirds indigenous to Tobago and also also offers lush flora and fauna providing habitat for sixteen species of mammals.
