Tropical North Queensland

Tropical North Queensland takes in the Great Barrier Reef, the World Heritage Rainforest and the coastal city of Cairns.

UNESCO deems the Great Barrier Reef 'a site of remarkable variety and beauty on the north-east coast of Australia', containing the world's largest collection of coral reefs, with 400 types of coral, 1,500 species of fish and 4,000 types of mollusc'.

It also is the habitat of species such as the dugong ('sea cow') and the large green turtle, which are threatened with extinction.

The Wet Tropics of Queensland, stretch along the north-east coast of Australia for some 450 km and are largely of tropical rainforests.

This biotope offers a particularly extensive and varied array of plants, as well as marsupials and singing birds, along with other rare and endangered animals and plant species.

Cairns has the Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park, which tells the stories of indigenous Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Cairns Esplanade is lined with bars and restaurants and the Daintree National Park spans mountainous rainforest, gorges and beaches.

Quicksilver Dive

Quicksilver Dive in Port Douglas has become the first PADI Adaptive Service Facility in Queensland and the only facility of its kind on the Great Barrier Reef to hold this accreditation.

Quicksilver's Great Barrier Reef cruise takes travellers to an activity platform at the Agincourt Reef, with spectacular coral formations, marine life and clear outer reef waters.

A semi-submarine and underwater observatory allow all passengers to view from below and learn with passionate marine biologists.

The beaches of Palm Cove and Four Mile Beach

The beaches of Palm Cove and Four Mile Beach, Port Douglas, have beach wheelchairs available, while Jungle Tours offers an inclusive experience in Daintree Rainforest and Mossman Gorge.

Wildlife Habitat

Wildlife Habitat provides visitors with a chance to experience the wildlife of Wetlands, Rainforest, Savannah, Nocturnal and Woodlands environments in an open and interactive setting.
