Verbier, with Val de Bagnes and La Tzoumaz, is located at 1,500m in the Val de Bagnes on south-facingplateau and views of the Massif des Combins.
In addition to being a premier winter sports destination, the region offers a range of open air activities during the summer season.
For mountain bikers (cross-country, downhill or enduro), there are more 800 km of routesof varyingdifficulty.
Walkers and hikerscan choose from 500 km of trails, and runners have 21 new marked trail routes to explore.
For trail runners, 21 signposted routes give experienced and amateur runners the chance to take in glaciers and green pastures grazedby Hérens cows, via rivers and impressive dams.
Mountain running enthusiasts have 415 km of trails with more than 33,0m of ascent.
Verbier also has the highest zip wire line in Europe.
Starting from Mont-Fort (3,330m) it passes over the Tortinglacier taking users at 130km per hour for 1,400 metreswith 383 metres ofvertical drop.
