Wightlink resumes sailing to the Isle of Wight

Wightlink, a ferry company operating routes across The Solent between Hampshire and the Isle of Wight in southern England, has resumed its sailings to the island.

Wightlink's ferries allow social distancing, with spacious lounges and open sun decks.

It operates car ferries between Lymington and Yarmouth, Portsmouth and Fishbourne and a fast passenger-only catamaran between Portsmouth Harbour and Ryde Pier.

The Isle of Wight is known for its beaches and seafront promenades such as sandy Shanklin Beach and south-facing Ventnor Beach.

On the island's western point, The Needles are three huge, white chalk rocks with by a 19th-century lighthouse.

The island was awarded UNESCO Biosphere status in 2019.

The island's sea views, beaches and rolling rural landscapes can be enjoyed along coastal trails and of miles of cycle routes.
