Winter in Alta Badia

AO-Alta-Badia-1

Alta Badia is region in the South Tyrolean Dolomites in Italy

The Alta Badia 2020/21 winter season starts on 5 December 2020 and goes through to April 2021

The Alta Badia skiing area, at between 1,300 and 2,778 metres above sea level, provides optimum skiing.

The Alta Badia ski area offers 130 km of large slopes (74 km easy/blue, 47 km medium/red and 9 km difficult/black) and its central position in the Dolomiti Superski ski carousel makes it one of the most popular skiing areas in the Dolomites.

The ski pistes are treated every night by snow groomers for each day's sking.

Forty-one of the ski lifts are chairlifts and surface lifts, which ensure skiers always remain in the open air.

In covered cable cars, travellers must cover nose and mouth.

There are 21 access points to the slopes, which allows for a good distribution of skiers at the main ski lifts and among the five towns in the Alta Badia area.

Purchasing ski passes

Ski passes can be bought in advance via the Dolomiti Superski website App with skiers able to collect the pass from pick-up boxes.

Other winter sports include cross-country skiing, snowboarding and sledging.

The accommodation

Most accommodation in Alta Badia is family-run and small and medium-sized, including mountain huts on the slopes.

Winter events

Ski World Cup races will be held on the Gran Risa slope on 20 and 21 December 2020.
