Luxury adventure company &Beyond will open two new safari camps in the Okavango Delta – Sandibe Under Canvas and Nxabega Under Canvas.
Together with the newly refurbished Chobe Under Canvas, they complete a seamless seven-night circuit through Botswana's most iconic wild places, a journey offering a rare combination of adventure, intimacy and sustainability. Botswana Under Canvas is not a lodge, it's the wild – felt, heard, and breathed – an experience where comfort and wilderness merge so successfully that neither is compromised.
South Africa-based &Beyond puts together luxury adventures in spectacular wild places in Africa, Asia, South America and Antarctica. With an extensive portfolio of lodges, camps and yachts, the company creates immersive experiences that connect guests to the beauty, culture and spirit of each destination. Its blend of exceptional comfort with unparalleled adventure is grounded in a conservation model that protects what matters most.
Now, two more camps are to be added to the portfolio. &Beyond Sandibe Under Canvas is set within one of the Okavango's most wildlife-rich concessions, renowned for year-round sightings of lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog. Days begin with the calls of the wild and close under a sky dense with stars. Game drives, walking safaris and community visits invite deeper discovery, revealing the pulse of predator country with every step.
Further west, &Beyond Nxabega Under Canvas captures a different mood of the delta where silence speaks volumes. The Okavango reveals its softer side, with seasonal water-laced floodplains, mokoro (a traditional dugout canoe) glides and the hush of reeds brushing against a wooden paddle. Guests can join mokoro excursions, catch-and-release fishing (offered when water levels permit) or land-based game drives and walking safaris led by experienced guides. The camps are designed for minimal impact without compromising on comfort, offering an intimate experience with just three tents per camp and a maximum of six guests. Here, simplicity is intentional, space is generous and everything is designed to connect, not compete.
Each tent features super king beds, double showers and vanities, standing fans, hot running water throughout and Starlink Wi-Fi – a first for the Botswana Under Canvas offering. Yes, the creature comforts are here, but nothing distracts from the real luxury: uninterrupted wild.
Powered by a solar plant and supported by in-room power packs, USB ports and vehicle charging stations, the camp provides reliable connectivity while operating in harmony with the environment. Interiors reflect the Delta's textures and tones, combining earthy greens, light wood, woven fibres and brushed metal to create a refined yet effortless sanctuary that feels completely in tune with the surrounding wilderness.
From the vast elephant herds of Chobe to the predator-rich plains of Sandibe and the tranquil waterways of Nxabega, the seven-night journey provides both adventure and ease. Shared logistics with neighbouring lodges minimise the environmental footprint, while partnerships with the nearby communities of Shorobe, Sexaxa, Gogomoga and Tsutsubega support employment, mentorship and conservation awareness, ensuring each stay contributes to the wellbeing of both guest and place.
According to Riaan Venter, Southern Africa regional manager at &Beyond, the Botswana Under Canvas camps celebrate safari in its purest form. "The experience is raw, personal and deeply immersive," he said. "The luxuries here are the thoughtful kind – lanterns that glow like stars, fresh bread baked over coals and quiet care that lets the wild take centre stage."
The Chobe and the Okavango Delta: An Under Canvas Adventure itinerary starts from US$4,840 per person sharing for seven nights. Perfect for families, couples and small groups, the itinerary offers unparalleled seclusion, intimate adventure and a refined connection to Botswana's wild heart in comfort and style.
The new camps open on 1 March 2026 and reservations can be made at andBeyond.com
