Lalibela Game Reserve, Eastern Cape

Lalibela Game Reserve, Eastern Cape

The Lalibela Game Reserve in South Africa's Eastern Cape, is an hour from Port Elizabeth and Addo.

New owners took over the reserve in July 2016 and have extended the reserve, restocked it with game, eradicate areas of alien invasive vegetation and returned the endemic bushveld to its original pristine state.

Lalibela covers over 10,500 hectares (26,000 acres) spanning five ecosystems and is home to the Big 5 (lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo & leopard) as well as other predators like cheetah, hyena, jackal and lynx.

Thanks to its vast grasslands, multitudes of zebra, giraffe, warthog, wildebeest, and various antelope species flourish here and enables the reserve to successfully support the highest density of free roaming predators in the Eastern Cape.

It is the only reserve in the province with no public roads through it so guests have exclusive access to the wildlife area and this combination of factors ensures a superlative game

viewing experience.

In addition, a breeding area of over 6,000 acres has been stocked with non-dangerous game and will be available to guests for walks, mountain biking, canoeing and fishing.

The three existing camps have been refurbished and the new Camp 1920 and Owners Private Villa will open in 2017.

The Owners Villa will have five ensuite bedrooms and will be booked on an exclusive use basis. Camp 1920 will have five tents.
