Slow travel in Spain:

Beyond Barcelona

Catalonia has more to offer than the capital.

Heading inland by train one finds medieval towns and a volcanic landscape.

Córdoba via the Torre del Oro

There is the chance to explore Córdoba's rich Roman and Islamic history via the Despeñaperros Pass.

The Torre del Oro service offers views of spectacular gorges and mountains.

UNESCO-listed ancient cities

The chance to explore Spain's ancient cities on this round trip through Burgos, Ávila, Madrid, Toledo and Cuenca.

It features one of Spain's most stunning rail routes, through the Sierra de Guadarrama from Ávila to Madrid.

Coastal Catalonia

Catalonia's beaches and port towns offers stays away from the touristy beach hotspots on Spain's southernmost coast.

Round trip to Tarragona

The chance to explore Tarragona's ancient architecture, thriving food scene and surrounding countryside, with a stopover in the south of France en route, and Barcelona on your return.

Byway was founded in 2020 by Cat Jones, who's never owned a car and whose annual family holiday is by train and bike, whatever the weather.

Byway trips include customised transport, accommodation and experiences, on-demand expert advice and a low carbon footprint.
