The new Deep South USA guide, which can be read online or ordered, covers the five southern states of Alabama, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.

The new guide now includes themed itineraries which can be combined to showcase the whole region, with recommendations for t accommodations.

Highlights include an introduction to the Deep South USA region and the state themed self-drive itinerary ideas including history & heritage, civil rights, culture, cuisine, festivals, music and outdoors top 10 lists for what to do in each Deep South USA state.

There are also mini-maps to help plan road trips, and suggestions for overnight accommodation covering 'signature' and 'authentic' options.

Alabama

50th Anniversary the first moon landing

The U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville is the world's largest space museum and home of Space Camp.

The rockets that took man to the moon were engineered by scientists in Huntsville, NASA's Marshall Flight Center.

Apollo 11 was the American spaceflight that landed the first two men on the moon.

Launch date was 16 July 1969.Moon landing was 20 July 1969.

The U. S. Space & Rocket Center will supplement the existing exhibits in 2019 with an all-new main exhibit entitled : Apollo: When We Went to the Moon.

The exhibit will highlight the Space Race, the period of time the United States and the Soviet Union competed for significant accomplishments in space exploration.

On 16 July 2019, the U.S. Space & Rocket Center will attempt to break Guinness World Record by launching 5,000 model rockets simultaneously at 8:32 am (CST), the exact time of the launch of Apollo 11

Tennessee

This year the city of Memphis will celebrate its bicentennial with a year long programme of events.

For the first time Memphis in May, the month long festival usually themed on a country, will focus on the birthday city.

The crowning event, Celebrate Memphis, will take place on the 25 May 2019 and celebrate the city's heritage.
