What you do get is a variant of the ever-so-American story of girl-from-a-small-town going to the big and sometimes bad city.In this time capsule like re-telling of that tale, we are on the eve of feminism's birth, gay love and rights being recognized, and in the midst of the actual year when the US Voting Rights Act became law.The Vietnam War and the generation-defining anti-war movement that it inspired is part of the action backdrop.
