AllWays Traveller Features
The Bonsol, Palma, Mallorca
The Bonsol is located on a clifftop among pine trees in Illetas, which is five miles from central Palma.
The hotel is in lavishly landscaped gardens, and on a hill, where both winter sun and summer breezes can be enjoyed to the full.
With its stretch of private beach it has been welcoming guests since the 1950s, when first opened by Antonio and Roger Xamena.
Antonio was a Mallorcan who wanted to give others opportunities to experience and enjoy its charms.
Among the first guests was Errol Flynn who stayed there before renting a house nearby.
Antonio and Roger were avid travellers and the Bonsol is now stocked with a wide range of objets d'art from Florence, Thailand, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Burma, China and Africa.
The Bonsol has remained a family run hotel and Martin and Lorraine Xamena and their children, now oversee its operation.
The hotel is one of the most popular on the Island of Mallorca and enjoys a very large number of repeat visits.
