The Hotel Las Cortes de Cádizis

AT-Cortes-Cadiz-1

The boutique Hotel Las Cortes de Cádizis is located in the heart of historic centre of Cádiz.

The property was built in 1859 for the Marqués de la Cañada, who was involved in maritime trade.

Writer Hans Christian Andersen stayed at the property during his visit to Cádiz in 1862, when it was called La Fonda de París.

Hotel Las Cortes de Cádizis

The ground floor where the central courtyard is located, was where the balls of the period used to be held.

Crowning the building is a 19th century lookout tower, from where the watchman used to see the cargo ships from America arriving at the port of Cádiz.

Each room in the hotel is dedicated to personalities from the time of the Cortes de Cádiz of 1812, or to emblematic corners of the city.

Cadiz, in the south of Spain, and Europe, is the oldest inhabited city in the West, boasting more than 3,000 years of history.

In its time the city has been occupied by Carthaginians, Phoenicians, Greeks, Goths, Romans and Arabs whose influence gives Cadiz its special character.

Its bright streets, the kindness and friendliness of its people, as well as the natural beauty of the sandy beaches and pleasant year-round climate make Cadiz an excellent city break destination.
