The Tortue Hamburg

Tortue-Hamburg-1

The Tortue Hamburg, which has opened in this northern German city draws on 'Gallic savoir-vivre, centuries of history, and a reverence for slow living'.

Part of the Design Hotels portfolio, it is located in the city's emerging Stadthöfe-Quartier and is well placed for the city's New Town.

Also close by arethe Rathaus, shopping boulevards and Jungfernstieg, with its passage into Hamburg's Old Town.

The six-story landmarked building dates back to 1888 and once headquartered the Ministry for Urban Development.

It has an imposing redbrick façade while inside a revamp of the original space sees restored columns, soaring ceilings, and wrought-iron marquees sitting side-by-side with original frescos painted by Adrian Karbowsky in 1910, mosaic tiled flooring, and tall arched windows.
