Winter events in Palma, Mallorca

The Mediterranean island of Mallorca, or Majorca, is the largest of the four SpanishBalearic Islands, which also take in Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera.

The island has long been a lure for the budget conscious visitor content with the island's sun, sea and sangria offering.

And while Mallorca remains a popular sunshine destination it is Palma, the island's capital, that has seen a well-deserved surge in popularity over recent years.

Palma is a vibrant city of cultural abundance and contrast offering all that one would expect from a short break – with the added benefits derived from its Mediterranean climate with pleasant weather year round.

All parts of this stunning island are also within a two hour drive of the capital.

Mallorca Live nights

From 14 December 2019 to 21 March 2020, Palma will host its Mallorca Live nights, a series of concerts in the centre of Palma including popular Spanish groups

Festes Nadal

Festes Nadal, Palma's annual Christmas season, launches on 28 November with an illumination switch-on at Casal Solleric.

To a backdrop of sparkling lights, local musicians and street performers will stage a live show of song, dance and acrobatics.

Following the launch there is a six-week city-wide programme of cultural and gastronomic festivities.

The city's many markets embrace the yuletide theme with handicrafts, tree decorations and Christmas gifts.

Fiestas de Sant Sebastia

On 17to 19 January 2020, Palma de Mallorca will stage the Fiestas de Sant Sebastia.

Traditionally held in celebration of the city's patron Saint Sant Sebastia, the fiestas see locals and visitors celebrate for for three days of outdoor barbecues, fireworks, live music and parades.

The big night is on the 19 January, the day of Saint Sebastian when a big bonfire is lit at the Plaça Major to mark the beginning of the festivities.

Palma tapas revolution

The Palma tapas revolution (late November/early December) is an annual food fair designed to showcase the quality and originality of Spanish tapas and cocktails as well as positioning the city as a culinary hub for foodie travellers. Visitors enjoy a series of events and special discounts in tapas restaurants.
