The De Hoop Camino, the Garden Route

AO-De-Hoop-1

The Morukuru Beach Lodge, a member of Morukuru Family De Hoop and safari company Natural Selection's Lekkerwater Beach lodge have launched the De Hoop Camino offering the active traveller a new way to explore South Africa's Garden Route.

The De Hoop Camino will follow 14 km of scenic trails and footpaths along the beaches, coves and the fynbos-covered coastline of the De Hoop Nature Reserve.

The Reserve's landscape is defined by a rare lowland fynbos.

It is home to the smallest and most threatened vegetation in the plant kingdom, known as the Cape Floral Kingdom.

A coastal landscape, it borders the Indian Ocean where, between June and November, whales (sometime hundreds) can be seen with their young making their way north.

There is also the chance to spot schools of dolphin playing in the surf, enjoy birdlife sightings, including the endangered black oyster catcher, and view a wealth of other marine life sheltering in amongst the gullies and rock pools.

The route starts with an optional 6km walk to Lekkerwater Beach Lodge from the parking area in the reserve.

During the subsequent 2-night stay at Morukuru, activities like mountain biking, snorkelling, sandboarding and nature drives are included, over and above some more fabulous walks.

The partnership offers the nature-loving, outdoors traveller a remote and independent wildlife and landscape experience, while maximising the comfort, luxury and convenience provided by Natural Selection and Morukuru Family.

The De Hoop Camino, includes two nights at Morukuru Beach Lodge and Lekkerwater Beach lodge.

Morukuru Beach Lodge, a member of Morukuru Family De Hoop, is situated at Koppie Alleen, approximately 1 km from Morukuru Ocean House along the same coastline of the De Hoop Nature Reserve.
