The Atacama Desert

The Atacama Desert in northern Chile is officially the driest place on Earth, with some areas having seen no measurable rainfall for more than 400 years.

Ojos del Salado is the world's highest active volcano, standing at 6,893 metres.

Situated at approximately 54° south latitude, Puerto Williams is officially the southernmost city in the world, further south than Argentina's Ushuaia, which often claims the title.

Located in Chile's far south, it serves as the gateway to some of Patagonia's most remote regions and the starting point for the Dientes de Navarino trek.

This is the southernmost hiking route on Earth, with rugged, untouched scenery and challenging terrain.

Maipo Valley

Chile is known for its wines and the Maipo Valley, one of its oldest wine-growing regions, is considered the heart of Chilean viticulture.

The Atacama Large Millimeter

The Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) is the largest and most advanced radio telescope on the planet.

Perched high in the Atacama Desert at over 5,000 metres above sea level, it offers unparalleled insights into the formation of stars and galaxies.

Isla Magdalena

Isla Magdalena in southern Chile is home to one of the world's largest colonies of Magellanic penguins.

Bernardo O'Higgins National Park

Bernardo O'Higgins National Park in southern Chile is the country's largest, covering more than 3,500 square kilometres.

Patagonian glaciers

The Southern Patagonian Ice Field (Campo de Hielo Sur) is the world's largest non-polar ice mass, while the Pío XI Glacier is the biggest glacier outside the polar regions.
