Latin America

Latin America is a group of countries and dependencies in the Western Hemisphere where Romance languages such as Spanish, Portuguese, and French are predominantly spoken.

The Latin American Travel Association promotes the area as a tourist destination.




Bolivia

Bolivia, in central South America, offers a varied terrain spanning Andes Mountains, the Atacama Desert and Amazon Basin rainforest.

At more than 3,500m, its administrative capital, La Paz, sits on the Andes' Altiplano plateau with snow-capped Mt. Illimani in the background.

Nearby is glass-smooth Lake Titicaca, the continent's largest lake, straddling the border with Peru.

The salt flats of Salar de Uyuni cover 10,000 square kilometres and its vastness offers the chance to create stunning images.

Belize

Belize on the eastern coast of Central America has Caribbean Sea shorelines to the east and dense jungle to the west.

Offshore, the Belize Barrier Reef comprises hundreds of low-lying islands called cayes, rich with marine life.

Belize's jungle areas are home to Mayan ruins like Caracol with its towering pyramid; lagoon-side Lamanai and Altun Ha, just outside Belize City.

Belize is also known for Great Blue Hole, a rare natural phenomenon, with a circular drop of more than 400ft decorated with colourful coral formations and populated by reef sharks, nurse sharks, barracuda, and turtles.

The Great Blue Hole is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which Jacques Cousteau called one of the best dive sites in the world.

Patagonia

Costa Rica

Costa Rica is a rugged, rainforested Central American country with coastlines on the Caribbean and Pacific.

Sopme 25% of its area is made up of protected jungle, teeming with wildlife including spider monkeys and quetzal birds.

The Galápagos Islands

Chile
