Sensational Stays: Hope Lake Lodge at Greek Peak

Sometimes an all-in-one stop is the perfect place for winter vacation travel. The luxury of being able to park the car and just enjoy time with family or friends for a few days is exactly what I found at Greek Peak Mountain Resort during a sensational stay at the Hope Lake Lodge. Nestled in the eastern hills of New York's Finger Lakes region, this four-season resort is an easy drive from NYC, Philadelphia, or Toronto.

Hope Lake Lodge is the heart of Greek Peak Mountain Resort. Nestled between the ski mountain and Hope Lake Park, the five-story hotel offers panoramic views and cozy, Adirondack-style accommodations.

Immediately upon entering the lodge I was transported to a rustic, yet refined, experience where tall timber beams meld with the conveniences of Starbucks and the luxury amenities of an in-house spa. Our check-in process included freshly baked cookies and the opportunity to roast smores by an outside fire. The welcoming atmosphere started from the minute we walked in.

The Lodge offers a variety of rooms, from traditional hotel style with two beds to condominium-style suites. There are 105 suites consisting of 9 distinctive styles, which sleep anywhere from 2 to 4 people up to 10 individuals. Each suite has a fully equipped kitchen, pool and hot tub access, and in-room refreshments.

We stayed in a Ledge Rock Suite. With a king-sized private bedroom, separate living area with queen sleeper sofa and a queen Murphy bed, this room had plenty of space for our family of five. We played games at the dining room table, enjoyed the fireplace, and made use of the fridge for our dinner leftovers.

As welcoming and enjoyable as the rooms at Hope Lake Lodge can be, the real draw to Greek Peak is the mountain. We did not have the best weather during our December trip, but there was plenty for us to do outside and break in our cold weather gear.

Greek Peak is Central New York's largest ski resort. When fully operational, the mountain provides skiers and snowboarders with forty-four ski trails and eleven glades accessed by six chair and two surface lifts. We took full advantage of our two-hour pass on the snow tube lift, even making a few friends along the way. The kids enjoyed riding the snowcoaster and spotted some deer on the ride.

Everything we needed was at Greek Peak, including several options for dining. Carvers Steakhouse, located in the Lodge, is the fine dining option and also a great breakfast spot for those staying at the resort. We had dinner at the lively Trax Pub & Grill located at the base of the mountain.

We appreciated the attentive and friendly service throughout the resort, and the many gluten-free options available at all the eateries.
