Sensational Stays: Lake Louisa State Park

Cover Lake Louisa State Park
Glamping has become a hot trend as travelers look for ways to get some space and still have the creature comforts of home. Lake Louisa State Park in Florida is one of many outdoor destinations capitalizing on the interest by providing amenities like coffee makers, wi-fi, and comfortable beds inside a pre-pitched tent. Add access to some of central Florida's most beautiful landscapes and Lake Louisa becomes a sensational stay for nature lovers or those who just want to dabble in an outdoor stay.

The combination of glamor and camping equals glamping in Lake Louisa, which offers several luxury tent sites in the campground located in beautiful Lake County, Florida. The park's CareFree Camping sites offer the excitement of the great outdoors without sacrificing the luxuries and comforts of home: they do all the work, and you simply arrive at a fully set up campsite! Our site was equipped with an air conditioner, interior and exterior lighting, and a coffee machine. There are plenty of outlets to plug in a cell phone and a laptop. Just like a B&B (except no food is provided), the tall tent has space for luggage, a fun guest book, and towels for the nearby showers.

Outside the tent, there is a firepit and cooking area, Adirondack chairs, and a picnic table. We had wonderful weather during our stay and took full advantage of the outdoors. We dined al fresco and enjoyed the evening sky full of stars. It was nice to have a campfire in the evening, and the previous occupants even left us some firewood.

Lake Louisa State Park has many activities. Equipment rentals are available, and guests can check out three-person canoes, single/tandem kayaks, and paddleboards. These are located at the Dixie Lake Outpost. All boats include life jackets, paddles, and safety whistles. Guided kayak tours travel through some of the most pristine wetlands and shorelines in Lake Louisa State Park. Lake Louisa is the largest of the seven lakes in the park, and an ecotour is suitable for novice kayakers as well as those with advanced experience. Bicycle rentals are also available.

We took the opportunity to see and learn about the park on horseback. Our guide led us along miles of amazing equestrian trails. We were beginner riders, but some of our group have been on horseback for years. The guides were informative and entertaining. On horseback may be the best way to see the park. And our horses were friendly and listened to what we needed them to do.
