Sensational Stays: Lodge Kohler

COVER
Seventy-one percent of the Earth's surface is covered in water. In Green Bay, Wisconsin, water is the impetus for one of the area's most sensational stays. Lodge Kohler, from the folks who bring us all the bold faucets, sinks, and bathroom features, is a testament to luxury AND the closest hotel to Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers. With stunning views of the historic landmark and all the amenities of a AAA Four Diamond Award-winning hotel, Lodge Kohler offers exceptionality for travelers to the Frozen Tundra winter, spring, summer, or fall.

Lodge Kohler has 141 guest rooms and suites, including Terrace Suites, which are perfect for football fans. This spacious enclave features a ground floor terrace with a furnished lounge, fire pit, and gas grill. Imagine tailgating 100 yards from the stadium seats! The Skyline Suites occupy the top floor. I got to stay in a Lambeau Suite, a mammoth 936 sq. ft. apartment sleeping up to 8. A massive king bed occupies the bedroom. The living room has a sectional couch, and the suite has a full dining room with a table for six. In between is a handy desk area for those who need to open their laptop while visiting. A micro-kitchenette features a sink, refrigerator, and plenty of counterspace.

The bedroom in a Lambeau Suite is attached to a state-of-the-art bathroom—there is a second half-bath by the kitchenette—with a full rain feature where one turn of a knob fills the shower with simulated rainfall from the ceiling; there are a myriad of nozzles, spouts, and jets, too. For something even more relaxing, I enjoyed time in the oversized soaking tub and complementary bath soak. And since water is a key feature at Lodge Kohler, the hotel is also home to the Kohler Waters Spa. Beyond traditional spa services, guests enjoy a coed sauna, steam room, and cool plunge pool.

Most visitors to Lodge Kohler come for football. Paid Lambeau Field stadium tours are available daily throughout the offseason and on home game weekends (except gameday). Depending on your fandom, tours can last from 55 minutes to 2 hours. Tours for home game weekends include Hall of Fame admission. The Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame is even a pleasure for fans of other teams, since the Packers are one of the most storied franchises in the NFL. The area surrounding Lodge Kohler is called Titletown. This new endeavor by the Packers organization and the city of Green Bay offers places to eat and drink, relax or play, and be active in the community—whether a local or a visitor.
